Belarusian mobile operator Belcel has launched a CDMA2000 network.
Last August, the Belarusian Ministry of Communications permitted the company to provide CDMA2000 (IMT-MC-450) services.
Chinese manufacturer Huawei Technologies equips the network, while Russian company CBOSS provides the billing system.
At present, Belcel's CDMA2000 (IMT-MC-450) covers Minsk, but in two months, Belcel will extend the service to regional cities.
Belcel's NMT-450 network covers 62 per cent of the country's territory and 72 per cent of the population (79 per cent in cities). This existing network will continue to operate at least until the end of the year, while changing over to the new standard network.
