According to the agreement signed with Velcom Siemens is to supply equipment for 270 GSM 900 and GSM 1800 base stations (2 200 transceivers).
The contract terms include provisions for network infrastructure modernizing which will allow to introduce GPRS on basis of these Siemens base stations.
Nikolai Jushkevich, Velcom acting general director says that the agreement goes in line with company's plans to double investments into its network expansion. The new equipment will allow to improve the quality of services and to expand network to 34 new towns.
