Velcom, the first GSM mobile operator in Belarus has launched 3G network in a test mode.
Velcom UMTS network consisting of 5 base stations, has been set up in 2-3 weeks.
The equipment was supplied by Ericsson. Recently, State Commission on Radiofrequencies has recently allocated frequency range for UMTS functioning to Velcom.
MTS has also announced that the company starts mounting and adjusting equipment for UMTS and HSDPA operation testing in Belarus.
