Belarus experiences increase in cybercrime by 62%

Minsk and Mogilev district have the highest rate of cybercrime. On the whole, cybercriminals' activity had increased by 62% in Belarus in 2008.

585 cybercrimes were registered in Mogilev district in 2008. These numbers amount to 413 in Minsk in the same year. Total cybercrime increase in the 2008 was 62% of 2007's rate, Prosecutor General's Office was told, where it was clarified that while in 2003 only 119 informational security crimes were commited, in 2008 there were more than 1,6 thousand accounts of cybercrimes.
