Belarus in ITU Statistics for 2008

ITU (International Telecommunication Union) published some new and corrected statistical data for the year of 2008 about Belarus.

According to the ITU basic indicators there are 9.68M inhabitants in Belarus and the density of population is 47 per km. Total GDP and GDP per capita were 45,28BUSD and 4'656 respectively in the year of 2007. The number of telephone subscribers totaled 11'262'100 (116,36 per 100 inhabitants) in 2008.

The data on main telephone lines are the following: 2003 - 3'071'300, 2008 - 3'718'100 and the CAGR(%) - 3.9 (2003-2008). Main telephone lines per 100 inhabitants: - 30,99 (2003), main telephone lines per 100 inhabitants: - 38.41 (2008) and CAGR(%) - 4.4 (2003-2008)

The increase of the number of cellular subscribers totaled 46,5% (CAGR(%) (1998-2003) - from 1'118'000 in 2003 to 7'544'000 in 2008. Cellular mobile subscribers comprised 67.8 % of total telephone subscibers in 2003, 77.94 mobile phones subscribers per 100 inhabitants.
