The number of Velcom subscribers increased 400 000 in 2009

The number of velcom subscribers grew up by 10,9%, from 3,7 million at the end of 2008 to 4,102 million at the end of 2009, making the userbase growth rate 102 000 of users for the last 1.5 months of the year. On the whole, the subscriber base increased by more than 400 000 in 2009.
velcom market share decreased to 42,7% compared with 44,8% at the end of the 2008.
velcom market penetration is 99,4%. In 2009, the company put into operation 409 new base stations and provided mobile communications for 150 new settlements.
At the end of the 2009, velcom operator received frequencies which allow a 3G network to be deployed. Velcom operators will have to introduce 3G network for exploitation no later than December 31th 2010. 3G frequencies will cost the company around 9,5 million euro.
Nokia Siemens Network will be the supplier of telecommunications solutions and equipment for the 3G network deployment.
