No applicants for MTS Belarus auction

According to Telecompaper no applications have been submitted for participation in the auction of the state-owned stake in mobile operator MTS Belarus on 30 January, reports Tass-Telecom citing Georgy Kuznetsov, the head of the Belarusian State Property Committee.
Dmitriy Solodovnikov, the CEO at Russian mobile operator MTS, which owns the other half of the Belarus company, declined to comment on the issue.
The deadline for submitting applications is 5 February. The initial price of the 51 percent state stake has been reduced from USD 1 billion to USD 963 million. MTS owns 49 percent of the Belarusian mobile operator.
