Preparations afoot to sell Belarusian MTS shares

According to BelTA The State Property Committee of Belarus is busy preparing a tender to sell shares of the mobile carrier SOOO MTS.

“We plan to work on MTS in 2015. There is nothing specific to talk about yet. Preparations are in progress,” said the official. Andrei Gayev remarked that it is very important to balance of the cost of the shares and interests of the state.

The previous attempt to find an investor for the state-owned package of shares in SOOO MTS (51%), which was estimated at about $860 million, took place in February 2014.

Asked about the air carrier Transaviaexport, the official reminded that the auction to sell state-owned shares of the company was organized in late 2014, however, potential investors could not submit the assets required to take part in the auction in a timely manner. “A proposal to sell shares of this joint-stock company in 2015 on the same terms has been prepared. This process has begun. A relevant executive order of the Belarus president has been drafted,” said the Chairman of the State Property Committee of Belarus.

The tender to sell Transaviaexport's shares offered for sale a package of 6,543,050 shares (99.9% of the charter fund), with the face value of each share at Br13,000.
