Belarus president to sign digital economy development ordinance by year end

13/12/2017

According to BelTA the digital economy development ordinance will be signed by the end of the year.

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the relevant statement in his speech during the second congress of Belarusian scientists on 13 December, BelTA has learned. Alexander Lukashenko said: “The Hi-Tech Park should reach new development horizons. Virtually the other day we discussed in detail the draft ordinance, which can be rightfully called revolutionary. As I've promised, it will be signed by the end of the year. It will enable conditions for Belarus to become one of the most advanced countries in this field. In some areas it will allow us to become a global leader. By fulfilling all the clauses of the ordinance, we will advance even farther in implementing the ambitious project of building an IT country.” The president stressed that information technologies are used everywhere. The modern economy is rightfully identified as digital. Robot technologies are introduced in the production sector and agriculture. IT platforms put pressure on conventional shops while the blockchain technology does the same for finance. Artificial intelligence replaces human beings in everyday life more and more often, said Alexander Lukashenko. The head of state believes that information and communication technologies should be used to create smart systems for processing extremely large volumes of data, to create systems to make decisions for government agencies, cloud computing, and other technologies. “We have all of them. All of it develops in Belarus. These are not just dreams as in many other countries. We should act and move forward instead of being satisfied with what has already been achieved,” noted the head of state.
