LAN upgrade in progress at two Belarusian border checkpoints

19/03/2020

According to BelTA work to upgrade local area networks in the border checkpoints Bruzgi and Berestovitsa at the Belarusian-Polish border has begun.

The networks are being upgraded as part of an international technical aid project, with the Grodno Regional Customs acting as the key beneficiary.

The project's implementation will reduce the time customs control procedures require and will shorten the overall time required to cross the Belarusian-Polish border. The replacement of equipment will bolster the security of transmitting customs data and personal data of people that cross the border. Uninterrupted power supply units are being installed to keep the border checkpoint working during a power outage.

The project “Improvement of border management operations at the road border crossing points Bruzgi and Berestovitsa” (PBU1/0683/16) is being implemented as part of the 2014-2020 Poland-Belarus-Ukraine transboundary cooperation program. The European Union's financial contribution is close to ˆ1 million.
