Belarusian GSM-operator Mobile Digital Communications (trademark Velcom) has started operating in two stations of the Minsk Metro.
A month ago, the company announced that after two years of functioning it had reached 50,000 customers.
The company is a national operator in the Republic of Belarus GSM 900 standard. Now it covers all the major Belarusian cities and the Brest-Minsk-Orsha highway.
By the end of 2001, the operator plans to cover 70 per cent of the population of Belarus
