The Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Investments has found Belpochta's process of setting rates for services and periodical press publications to be illegal.
The decision concerning Belpochta (Belarusian post) was supported by the public organisation, the Belorusian Association for Journalists, together with a number of newspapers. A statement said Belpochta set very high rates for distributing independent press editions to subscribers, then set the same rates for state editions.
The statute asks the ministry to recognise this activity as illegal, noting it breaks the antimonopoly law, and to put a stop to Belpochta's activities.
Belpochta could have to follow an order from the ministry or solve the problem in court.
