Yearly sales for the first Belarusian e-shops network, Shop.by, totaled $900,000 (E1.05m).
The network was set up in April, 2000 by internet service provider Open Contact. It now includes 70 separate virtual shops with uniform design, standardised services and common advertising strategies.
The shops sell everything - from food products to cars and real estate. The most popular goods are compact discs and computer accessories. Home delivery service is available in Belarus. Credit cards aren't accepted.
