Belarussian GSM operator Mobile Digital Communications, which has the Velcom trademark, has announced that it has 100,000 subscribers, which constitutes more than 1 per cent of the Belarus population.
After two and a half years of being in operation, the company has invested about US$75m (E84.99m). Next year Velcom is planning to invest another US$20m (E22.66m).
Velcom general director Nikolai Jushkevich has stated that the total Belarussian mobile phone market capacity amounts to about 500,000 telephone subscribers.
