The educational centre of the Russian Internet Education Federation (IEF) opened for operation in Belarus on December 8, 2001.
The centre's specialists will educate schoolteachers regarding how to use internet technologies in their educational practices. The centre expects to train 1000 teachers every year.
The IEF, Belarusian Ministry of Education and Belarusian State University signed the agreement to create the educational center of the Internet Education Federation in Belarus (BECIEF) back in June 2001.
According to the agreement, the BECIEF has become a substructure of the Belarusian State University. The BECIEF is also the first internet center established by the IEF abroad in the framework of the "Pokolenie.ru" project. The project is financed by YUKOS, a Russian oil company.
