Saudi Arabian construction company Saudi Oger is planning to purchase of half of Belarusian mobile operator Belcel from telecoms company Metromedia.
The Belarusian government supports the deal, which the parties are currently negotiating, said Minister of Communications Vladimir Goncharenko.
Officials at the Ministry hope Saudi Oger will implement the government's cellular network development programme, which calls for a gradual introduction of a digital standard - possibly CDMA-450 instead of the present NMT-450.
