Beltelecom modernises international traffic exchange and ISDN network

Beltelecom, the majority state-owned telecoms operator, has started work on its modernisation of the international traffic exchange and ISDN network in Belarus.
Siemens, the winner of the tender, which was announced by Beltelecom in February of this year, will supply the necessary equipment. Equipment mounting, testing and software upgrading are due to be completed by December 20, 2002.
The extension of switching facilities' capacity will improve connection quality. New software implementation will result in new services and in will improve functionality of new exchanges.
