Representatives of Belarussian mobile operator Mobile Digital Communications (trade mark Velcom) have made an official statement about the theft of its client database and have initiated legal proceedings.
According to Belarusian legislation, information about a telephone subscriber is not confidential. However, Velcom still considers the theft damages its interests.
To prevent such incidents in the future, Velcom is considering not reporting the names of subscribers to license fee collectors.
Velcom is confident that those guilty of the theft will be apprehended
