Velcom subscribers now can use their mobile phones at ten of Minsk's 20 subway stations. By the end of May the Belarusian mobile operator plans to have extended its network to the rest of the city's subway stations.
Since May, 2001, Velcom's mobile network has been operable in only two subway stations.
By April 16, 2003 Velcom had 470,000 subscribers. The company predicts that by the end of the year, the number of subscribers will have grown to 700,000.
Velcom currently has 300 base stations in Belarus, of which 105 are in Minsk. By the end of the year the company hopes to have built another 200 base stations in Minsk.
