Russian telco Deltatelecom, operating under the brand Skyline, and Belarusian telco Belcel have launched IMT-MC 450 (cdma2000) network roaming.
Further IMT-MC 450 operators are expected to join the roaming agreement shortly.
Deltatelecom, the first IMT-MC 450 operator in Russia was founded in 1991. This Russian NMT-450 operator was the first in Russia to introduce the CDMA2000 1X standard in the range of 450 MHz.
Belcel, the first mobile operator in the country, was founded in 1993. In February of that year, it switched to the CDMA2000 standard. At present, the company's CDMA2000 network is used by 50 per cent of the population. The Belcel network covers 61 per cent of the territory of Belarus and 72 per cent of the country's population use its services.
