Since the 5th of November VELCOM network has been functioning in all belarusiann towns with the population more than 13 000. At present Velcom network covers territory inhabited by 93% of urban population of the country and includes 479 base stations, 60 of which operate in 1800 MHz frequency range. More than 30 of GSM1800 standard base stations are in Minsk and the rest are in Gomel, Baranovichi, Bobryisk and Borisov.
The company is planning to set into operation 100 more base stations by the end of 2003.
