Having been operating for a year and a half in Belarusian market MTS managed to gain 500000 subscribers.
MTS started its operations in Belarus in June 2002 and by the end of 2003 the company had 465 000 subscribers sharing 42% of the market.
At present MTS has more than 500 base stations in Belarus and the capacity of the Siemens switchboard totals 950 000 numbers. MTS services are available in more than 70 Belarusian cities.
The company has offices in Minsk, Vitebsk, Gomel, Mogilev, Brest, Grodno with 500 people working there.
"Mobile communications is the most dynamic sector of Belarusian economy. And our mission is to further telecommunications infrastructure development in the country in order to meet the need for qualitative and reliable communication. Our major objective is to become the leader of Belarusian mobile market", - said MTS general director Eduard Makariev.
