On September, 16 ITU (International Telecommunication Union) published statistical data for the year of 2003, including Belarus.
According to the ITU basic indicators there are 9.87M inhabitants in Belarus and the density of population is 48 per km. Total GDP and GDP per capita were 14,2BUSD and 1'438 respectively in the year of 2002. The number of telephone subscribers totaled 4'189.3 (42,43 per 100 inhabitants) in 2003.
The data on main telephone lines (k) are the following: 1998 - 2'489.9, 2003 - 3'071.3 and the CAGR(%) - 4.3 (1998-2003). Main telephone lines per 100 inhabitants: - 24.79 (1998), main telephone lines per 100 inhabitants: - 31.11 (2003) and CAGR(%) - 4.6 (1998-2003)
The increase of the number of cellular subscribers totaled 147% (CAGR(%) - 147.0 (1998-2003) - from 12.200 in 1998 to 1.118.000 in 2003. Cellular mobile subscribers comprised 26.7 % of total telephone subscibers in 2003, 11. 32 mobile phones subscribers per 100 inhabitants.
