A young Pakistani Zulfikar Hussein had registered 85 MTS and Velcom subscriber numbers with roaming services for straw men and then sent SIM cards to his acquaintances to Pakistan via ordinary mail. Velcom and MTS could get information about their roaming subscribers with a delay of about a couple of days and had to pay to Pakistani operators for roaming. The scheme had been working for a month since April to May, 2004 and Zulfikar Hussein swindled out BLR 197 mln (75KEUR).
That was proved by a Minsk City Department of Internal affairs criminal investigation. If the court admits Hussen's guilt, a Pakistani will be sentenced up to 5 years of prison.
