BelCel press secretary Maksim Dubovik informs that BelCel NMT-450 network could be liquidated after its license of communication services termination in 2007.
He says that this decision can be taken by the Ministry of Communications and Informatization and will depend on the number of NMT-450 subscribers, on services cost and on equipment operability.
At present there are 3,000 NMT subscribers in Belarus. BelCel NMT-450 network covers 69% of the territory of the country inhabited by 60% of the country's population and 84% of urban population.
BelCel was the first mobile operator in Belarus. Since 1993 the company renders NMT-450 and since 2003 - IMT-MC-450 (cdma2000, trademark Diallog) services.
BelCel has now some 100,000 subscribers.
