The first Belarusian meeting Linux Vacation/Eastern Europe 2005 (LVEE-2005) organized by Minsk Linux users and by SaM Solutions company took place on June 30- July 3, not far from Grodno city.
More than 80 FOSS developers and users from Belarus, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine took part in the meeting.
Participants of the two weeks conference discussed various aspects of FOSS putting into operation, including technical and judicial issues.
It turned out that a number of major Belarusian producing companies use
Linux;
that remote downloading and Linux clusters help to revive obsolete computers in Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics;
that Polish Linux supporters advocate for legislative FOSS approval and for opening document formats used by the government.
