On July 26, 2005 Velcom and Ericsson signed an agreement on Velcom GSM network extension in Belarus.
According to the contract, by the end of 2005, Ericsson is to supply equipment and services for Velcom network extension for USD 33 mln.
That will enable Velcom to mount 300 new base stations and 200 Mini Link radio-relay hops and to provide services for some 2 mln. subscribers.
Ericsson is to put into operation an intelligent platform (total capacity - 1 mln. customers). As a result such up-dated services as VPN will become available for Velcom subscribers in Belarus.
Ericsson and Velcom are planning to enlarge cooperation, in particular they announced about possible contracts on 3G and WiMAX technologies.
