Beltelecom is planning to to provide fiber optic connection for all district centers in Belarus by the end of 2005. At present 114 of 118 district centers are connected.
This year a backbone Grodno-Oshmiany has been put into operation. Total length of the fiber optic cable lines equals 837 km.
42% of the primary network capacity is issued for fixed telephony services, and 17% - for data transmission, including Internet. The rest will be used by mobile operators.
