Speaking at the press conference which took place on May 16, Nikolai Strukov, Deputy Minister of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus, stressed that in order to develop wireless Internet access in the country, it is necessary to attract new investors.
According to Ministry's experts assessments, USD 50 mln are to be invested into wireless network development in Minsk.
Nikolai Strukov emphasized importance of WiMAX networks introduction. "Today frequencies for testing of equipment are allocated, 3 base stations supplied by Siemens to Minsk. WiMAX technology tests conducted with participation of ministries and other government bodies, including army and police, gave positive results", said Deputy Minister.
N. Strukov informed that Beltelecom, Velcom and MTS are examining possibilities of UMTS technologies introduction .
