MTS launches EDGE in Minsk

An MTS network supporting EDGE technology has been put into operation in Minsk since August 21, 2006. Now the MTS EDGE network covers the center of the Minsk city.
MTS is planning to extend its EDGE network in the near future. Though before the MTS executives and its general director Vladimir Karpovich had some doubts about the demand for the service, all the MTS's receivers put into operation during the last two years support EDGE technology.
The pioneer of EDGE in Belarus, Velcom, launched its EDGE supporting network in December 2005. Now it covers Grodno, Mogilev and Vitebsk regions.
