Belarusian GSM operator Mobile Digital Communications (MDC) (trademarks Velcom and Privet) is planning to invest USD100 mln into its network development during the three coming years.
Eli Farkash, member of the MDC administrative board explained that the company would invest in equipment purchase, improvement of technologies, and personnel training. "It is expected that this strategy will allow to strengthen company's position at the Belaruisan market, to increase its client base up to 4 mln by 2009-2010 ( as of September 1, 2006, the company had 2,435 mln subscribers", said Mr Farkash at the press conference held on September 6, 2006 in Minsk, Belarus.
According to the acting MDC general director Viktor Alisievich, during the three years of the company's operation at the Belarusian market, USD 350 mln has been invested into the network development.
As of September 1, 2006 MDC (Velcom) network covers 72% of the country's territory, its services are available to 91 % of the country's population.
