On October 25, a new computer class was opened in Chechersk secondary school #2 within the framework of the ICTs for Development of Radioactive Contaminated Territories project supported by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). Mr. Andre von Graffenried Swiss Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary participated in the opening ceremony. The new computer class provides opportunities of computer and internet access for 600 local inhabitants.
The project aimed at the didgital divide reduction has been launched by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in 2003 for Gomel region.
As a result, 11 schools in contaminated districts of Gomel region has been equipped with computers w. Internet access is provided for scholls within the framework of the project as well.
The ICTs for Development of Radioactive Contaminated Territories project includes also support of www.chernobyl.info and www.igovka.net websites. The former provides information on Chernobyl disaster consequences in Russian, Ukraininan and Belarusian territories affected by it, while the latter is devoted to the life in Igovka village (Gomel region, Belarus).
