50 000 fixed phone numbers are to be put into operation by the end of 2006

According to Ivan Zabko, General Director of Beletelecom subsidiary Minsk Public Telephone Network, Beltelecom is planning to put into operation 50 000 fixed phone numbers by the end of 2006. 30 000 fixed phone numbers will be used to replace outmoded facilities at exchanges.
Minsk Public Telephone Network includes 113 exchanges, 780 thousand phone numbers (480 thousand of them are switched to digital exchanges).
By the end of 2007, 80 thousand new phone numbers will be switched to digital exchanges, three fourth of them will be used to replace outmoded facilities at exchanges. It is planned to finish transfer to digital exchanges by the end of 2010.
Minsk Public Telephone Network is planning to develop ADSL services. Minsk City fixed Phone Network Internet access services profit for 9 months of 2006 (from January to September) totaled BYR 11bln (4MEUR). In 2005 - BYR 7bln (2,55MEUR)
37 per cent of Minsk Public Telephone Network profit got in 2006 is due to the company's various information services.
