At the press conference held on Monday, February the 5th, MTS general director Vladimir Karpovich informed journalists about the company's plans for 2007.
According to Mr. Karpovich, the company (together with the experts from Bealrusian State University of Informatics and Radio Electronics) will conduct to explore radio - frequency spectrum recourses necessary for the functioning of the 3G network. The next step is a corresponding license agreement.
Within the framework of transition to the new zone code (033 instead of 029) planned for 2007-2008, the company will announce bidding for SMS center soft and hardware.
MTS is planning to launch new services for corporate clients.
Another important trend of MTS activities in 2007 is VAS-platforms (Value Added Service), and content services. The company is planning to introduce a short numbers system, to extend its EDGE-coverage.
Vladimir Karpovich said that MTS's average monthly profit from one client (ARPU) totaled $10 ($9,84) in 2006. While the monthly length of outgoing calls of MTS's clients totaled 614 minutes. As for now, MTS has 3,3 mln subscribers.
