Belarusian Minister of communications considers it necessary to change rates for communications services

Belarusian Minister of communications Nikolai Pantelei considers it necessary to change rates for communications services in order to provide self - repayment of the services. However, stressed the Minister, universal service fee should remain affordable for all the strata of the country's population.
For instance, fixed phone services fees for individual users cover only 58,8 % of prime cost, while rates for judicial bodies cover 88,9 % of prime cost.
The gradual transition to the new rates system will be developed according to the Belarusian legislation on telecommunications, specifically according to stipulations concerning the universal service provision..
The transition will be accompanied by modernization of telecommunication services in Belarus (introducing digital technologies, improving of management, and etc.), said Mr. Pantelei.
