Belarusian state-owned telco Beltelecom is planning to put into operation a new fiber-optic line junction at the Belarus-Lithuania border by the forth quarter of 2007. The project is to be carried out within the framework of the agreement signed by Beltelecom and Lithuanian operator TEO LT, AB Group.
The capacity of the new junction mounted with SDH STM-16 equipment will total 2,5 Gbps, and total network capacity in the 'Lithuanian direction" will increase up to 5,6 Gbps.
At present, Beltelecom lines capacity in Russian direction totals more than 10 Gbps , in Latvian direction - 5 Gbps , in Ukranian - more than 3,7 Gbps, in Polish - more than 6,2 Gbps.
TEO LT, AB Group (before May 2006 - AB Lietuvos Telekomas) is the major Lithuanian operator of fixed telephone network and Internet provider. Beltelecom and TEO LT, AB Group signed an interoperability agreement in 1995.
Beltelecom , Belarusian national telco and primary internet provider, was founded in June, 1995. At present the company with 27,9 thousand employees renders about 70 types of services to its clients.
