According to Beltelecom general director Konstantin Tikar', national telco Beletelecom jointly with mobile communications operator BelCel (Diallog) are planning to launch Wireless local loop (WLL) network in May, 2007. Speaking at Tibo-2007 exhibition opening Mr. Tikar said that a test WLL network with 15 subscribers had been launched recently.
The primary goal of the project is to provide WLL communications for remote rural areas with a scarce population, where stationary telephone networks are too expensive to establish. By the end of 2007, it is planned to create 3-5 thousand terminals in 27-32 districts.
Beltelecom representative say that WLL services fee will be approximated to the price of fixed telephone communication services.
