Russian mobile operator MTS is not planning to increase its share in its Belarusian subsidiary - joint venture Mobile TeleSystems. That statement was made by the Russian MTS president Leonid Melamed at the press conference in Minsk, on July 27. "We are satisfied with our cooperation, and we are not going to force changes in our relationships", said Mr. Melamed.
Minister of Communications and Informatization Nikolai Pantelei stressed: " The degree of mutual understanding of the partners makes structural changes senseless. WE have a lot of things to do and there is no sense to get distracted by the issues of shares redistribution".

At present, MTS Belarus has 3 mln 473 thousand clients. MTS network covers 81,7% of the country's territory inhabited by 93% of population in 17.780 built-up areas. The network consist of 2.760 base stations and 27.000 transmitters mounted in 785 built-up areas. The company's net profit totalled USD 836 mln in 5 years, while investments exceeded USD 447 mln. MTS Belarus has 54% mobile market share.
According to recent calculations, annual mobile communications expenditures are USD 67 per capita.
