Belarus' fixed line monopoly operator Beltelecom has announced plans to roll out multiservice data networks using next generation network (NGN) technology. Beltelecom director Konstantin Tikar said the new NGN would allow his company to offer digital services such as IPTV, broadband internet access and high quality voice telephony communications across the country. Tikar told a press conference the first NGN networks would be set up in Vitebsk, before being rolled out country-wide.
