Beltelecom, national telco operator, launched 105 Wi-Fi hot spots (70 in Minsk, and 35 in regional and district centers) in July - December 2007.
Beltelecom's strategy is to provide its wireless services (brand name ByFly) in hotels, libraries, educational institutions, restaurants and beletelecom's own.
Today, there are 70 hot spots in Minsk, 7 - in Gomel, 6 - in Brest, as many in Grodno and in Vitebsk each, 5 - in Mogilev.
Beltelecom started its byfly project in July 2007, having launched 7 hot spots at that time. The service was free during the testing period, in July 2007 - January 1, 2008. The maximum speed was up to 1Mbit/s.
