Speaking at the press-conference on March 12, 2008, Vladimir Zinovsky, Minister of statistics and analysis of the Republic of Belarus, said that while in 2000 there were only 2 computers per 100 families, in 2007 the number of computers per 100 families increased to 26. For the families with children younger than 18 years old, the figure is even bigger - 40 computers per 100 families.
According to the minister, the number of Internet users aged from 16 years old have increased from 16.2% in 2006 to 20.7% in 2007. as of January 1, 2006, the number of mobile phone subscribers totaled 7 million - that is 16.8% more than on January 1, 2007.
