3.7 million people use Beltelecom fixed telephony

The number of Belarusian state provider "Beltelecom" fixed phone subscribers totals 3.7 million.
788 thousand of them are rural inhabitants. For nine months of 2008, Beltelecom fixed telephony services user base increased by 100.6 thousand which is almost two times more than for the same period in 2007 (55 thousand new subscribers).
Approximately 26 thousand switches are based on WLL wireless technology. "Beltelecom" develops this project in cooperation with belarusian CDMA-operator "BelCel".
