According to the first deputy Minister of Communications and Informatisation Ivan Rak Belarusian licensed ISPs will be allowed to provide wireless broadband access based on Wi-Fi technology.

At present, only the national operator Beltelecom provides Wi-Fi internet access using 2400MHz frequency. The company had already installed over 210 access points. More than 130 of them are situated in Minsk, others are in regional centers, and some are in district centers. At present, over 2000 unique users use Wi-Fi networks in Belarus.
