According to "Zerkalo-Info" survey, 88% of men and 87% of women living in Minsk own cell phones. Among the phone owners men make a portion of 54% and and women - 46% .
Almost everyone aged 18-39 (98-99%) owns a cell phone while this number is 95% for people aged 40-49 and only 46% for people over 60 years old.
All government employess and students own cell phones, while only 46% of senior citizens have cell phones.
The survey revealed that two cellurar operators hold the major market shares - MTS (57%) and Velcom (52%), with other operators having 5,9% (Life) and 1,4% (Diallog) of the market.
People with higher education prefer Velcom (59% vs. 56% that use MTS). People with secondary education, conversely, prefer MTS (57% vs 49% that use Velcom).
