3000 are registered daily in Belarus . Most people use Wi-Fi from noon till late night daily (over 140 users at once). Early in the morning, however, only 10-15 people in the entire country use Wi-Fi.
Minsk is the most active Wi-Fi zone. Wi-Fi is mostly used in universities and hotels, and there is an increase in connections from cafes. Beltelecom's data shows that students make up most of the users, as Wi-Fi access is mostly used in educational institutions. Users from regions access Internet from hotels and "Beltelecom" service points.
As of March, 2009, 46 thousands accounts were activated since the introduction of payed Wi-Fi (July, 2008). 12 thousands accounts were activated via SMS-requests (starting from autumn, 2008)
According to WIFI.TUT.BY, an informational portal dealing with Wi-Fi data in Belarus, at present, Wi-Fi is accessible from 226 locations in more than a dozen cities. Most access points were installed by Beltelecom. Beltelecom Wi-Fi costs 1600 roubles for 60 minutes of access, 4000 roubles for 180 minutes. Props needed can be received via SMS
