Russian company MTS is still interested in increasing it's share in joint Russian-Belarusian joint venture "MTS" from 49% to 51%, "MTS" general director Vladimir Karpovich announced on a press-conference.
Last year, Russian MTS offered USD200 million to Belarusian government for increasing it's share in joint venture from 49% to 51% ,and USD600 million for the entire share of the government.
Belarusian part has refused this offer and continues to hold control over "MTS".
V. Karpovich has also confirmed plans to invest USD 100 million into network development in 2009. According to him, "There is a decision in further increase of coverage, in particular, a decision is made on enhancing the infrastructure in country, in agrosettlements".
Major achievements of company's seven years of activities are:
*4,483 million subscribers
*coverage of 95,17% of country's territory where 99,14% of Belarus' residents live
*the network consists of 4191 base stations installed in 21591 settlements
*investments from the beginning of company's activities up to May, 2009 USD have totaled 648,2 million
*revenue since the beginning of activities (US GAAP) has totaled, 1 754 387 648 USD
