According to TUT.BY Belarusian authorities has blocked access to the site Change.org
Change.org is a website that aims to promote social change by the use of onlne petitions.
By now website has more than 15 million users , and 150,000 of them are from Belarus, Ukraine and Russia.
The Belarusians have been actively using Change.org after launching an international campaign against the death penalty (67 000 signatures)/ Later on hockey star Peter Shtyastny with Irina Bogdanova gathered signatures for moving FIFA World championship 2014 from Belarus to another country (17,500 signatures). The next case was about investigation on cormorant baby birds torments (16,000 signatures) which has undoubtedly influenced by the fact that the case was brought to court. Then came the case of violations at Berezina Biosphere Reserve. By the time a site is blocked in Belarus, 5-thousand people signed Berezina petition.
The latest petition demanding the release of Anton Bashraimov and Sergei Suryapin ( accused of assistance to Swedish baby bear torture) has been signed by more than 1,200 people before change.org was bocked on Friday 9, 2012.
Belarusian secret services has not limited to a single site, they blocked the relevant DNS-server. As a result, Belarusian citizens cannot access websites which use dnsmadeeasy.com service. For instance, the cannot access aviasales.ru (flight shedules information), whmcs.com and many other.
