According to TeleGeography Belarus’ leading mobile operator by subscribers, MTS Belarus, has announced the launch of two own-brand smartphones – the MTS Fit and MTS Viva – and is encouraging users to buy the handsets by offering them three months ‘free’ internet access on its ‘Unlimited 2.0’ plan, if they buy between 1 October and 30 November 2012.
MTS Fit is based on the Google Android 2.3.6 operating system, has a 3.5-inch LCD touch screen with a resolution of 320?480, 800MHz processor, 256MB of RAM and a 3.2-megapixel camera. The phone costs BYR1.45 million (USD171), or can be purchased in instalments of BYR115,000 on a 17-month contract, with no upfront payment. Meanwhile, MTS Viva is another white-label device that is also powered by Google Android (ver. 4.0), and comes with a four-inch LCD touch screen with a resolution of 480?800, 1000MHz processor, 512MB of RAM a five-megapixel camera. As with the MTS Fit, the Viva can be paid for over 17-months (BYR160,000 per month) or bought outright for BYR1.95 million.
