Internet acquiring for Belarusian Railways tickets in 2013

According to BelTA Belarusian Railways plans to connect its online ticket sale service to the Internet acquiring system of OAO ASB Belarusbank in 2013. The information was released by Marina Matyushina, Chief Engineer of the Production Technology Department of the Passenger Service of Belarusian Railways, on 22 May, BelTA has learned.
She remarked that the move is supposed to allow customers to pay for tickets using bank cards of the payment systems Visa International, Master Card WorldWide.
Acquiring envisages using payment cards as means of payment and is enabled by the acquiring bank by installing relevant self-service kiosks or imprinters.
Marina Matyushina stated that raising the quality of service and expanding the range of available services are some of the priorities for Belarusian Railways. In particular, she mentioned increased popularity of the new digital registration service, which allows customers to buy tickets online without getting a hardcopy from the ticket office. Since the beginning of the year Belarusian Railways has sold over 84,000 tickets using the system in accordance with the data registered as of 22 May.
