According to BelTA Belarus has named women whose life stories are most frequently searched in the Internet. As of the beginning of March, most web users were interested in the biography of three-time Olympic champion Darya Domracheva, BelTA learnt from Yandex Company press service.
Darya is followed by Ukrainian politician Yuliya Timoshenko, Princess Rogneda of Polotsk, enlightener Euphrosyne of Polotsk, and Russian figure skater, Sochi Olympic Champion Adelina Sotnikova.
The Belarusians also search the web to learn about the life stories of poetesses Anna Akhmatova, Yevgeniya Yanishchits, and Agniya Barto. The Top 10 most searched biographies of Belarusian sportswomen include Nadezhda Skardino and Alla Tsuper who became popular after their successful performance at the Sochi Winter Olympic Games.
The rating of most searched biographies has significantly changed over the last year. For example, in March 2013 the Belarusians were mostly interested in the Russian show business: the life stories of singer Zhanna Friske and TV presenters Evelina Khromchenko and Lera Kudryavtseva.
The search requests of web users also depend on the seasonality factor: for example, the interest of schoolchildren in the biographies of people studied at school during the holidays significantly goes down, like it was in August 2013 when most Belarusians were searching for the details of life of politicians, actors, and stars.
Every week the Belarusians make over 40,000 search requests about the biographies of famous people and historical personalities on Yandex. Usually, they are interested in those, who were mentioned at school, or in contemporary people in the center of attention.
